Antique Japanese Lacquer Worker's Work Box.Ā The surface of the box is covered in dripped and wiped lacquer from use in the lacquer craftsman's work shop.Ā Ā The tansu is Meiji era which appears to be used until recently.Ā The top of the box was used as a mixing area and the drips on the sides were left to harden creating a beautiful cascade of lacquer.Ā
